Our Story

As far back as 1985 Jack Brown left Texas to put down roots for his family in his wife, Susan’s, home state of Minnesota. At that time he joined Asplundh Tree Expert Company, where he spent the next 10 years perfecting the skill of tree climbing and pruning.

Moving to a home with only wood heat he sought out side jobs to produce income, which came with the added benefit of filling his wood bunks for coming winter. This became a family endeavor, so in 1996 he quit his job and went full time as Wild River Tree Service. With just a dump truck, a wood chipper, climbing gear and knowledge of the arboriculture industry.

His son, Dallas, enjoyed time outdoors and being out in the field, working with dad whenever possible. Dragging brush and feeding the chipper at 12 years old, climbing trees at 14 and graduating to power saws at 16. Continuing to work with Jack, as a full time summer job until graduating highschool. After which he went on to spend 10 years in a few different positions within corporate America. With options ranging from banking to IT, it was made clear that it wasn’t the career path for him.

Jack’s declining health also influenced Dallas’s decision to return to tree service full time. Jack’s limitations had left Wild River, more or less, idle. Unable to provide the services he once did. In 2016, Dallas had the financial means to buy out his dad,  purchase additional equipment for Wild River, and pick up where he left off after highschool. Having minimal equipment, no team, no aerial access - other than climbing, fueled his desire to preserve trees and be so much more than a “tree removal” company.

In late 2018, Dallas was approached by a local competitor who was seeking to off load equipment in preparation for retirement. Jon was retiring and looking for someone to not only purchase his shop property, but also someone he could trust to service his clients. Wild River had been growing, and now needed a commercial location to operate out of. As it turns out, it was a perfect fit. Since Jon was retiring and moving away, Wild River simply absorbed Reiten’s Tree Service and has continued to operate solely as Wild River Tree Service since.

While Wild River has grown immensely since 2016, the sense of community, quality of services provided, and personable nature of business has not been lost. Our goal has always been, and will always be, to solve problems and find solutions while cultivating long term relationships with our clients.

Our collective experiences touch on many aspects of the arboriculture industry, running the whole gamut of services. From seemingly basic trimming and removals to site clearings, helping manage invasive species, performing right of way clearance and green space reclamation, a wide range of plant health care services, occasional yet frequent cat rescues, consulting and implementation. We strive to be your complete tree care solution.
